Welcome to the Global Studies and Study Abroad website!

Welcome to the Global Studies and Study Abroad website, one of Lamar University's many pathways to global education and opportunity. Lamar students, in fact, have had the opportunity to earn academic credit while participating in faculty-led programs that quite literally span the seas from Mykonos, Greece, to Tobacco Caye off the coast of Belize. They have studied the Birth of Modernism while exploring the museums of Paris, France just as they have studied Global Enrichment while analyzing contemporary business practices in Bejing, China; the diversity of courses range from undergraduate classes in musical theory and practice to graduate courses in social justice.

Unique to Lamar, financial assistance is also available. A student-approved fee allows the university to offer financial support to students who wish to participate in study abroad programs, provided that the course(s) taken are approved for academic credit that will transfer to Lamar and will apply to the student's degree program.

Whether a Lamar student chooses to study at the University of Salamanca, Spain's oldest and most historic institution, or the University of San Igancio de Loyola-Cusco, Peru, the outcome is often the same—a life changing experience that is difficult to capture in words.

Thank you for dropping by. I hope that you enjoy navigating the site, and please feel free to contact me with your suggestions.

Cordially,
Dr. Joe Nordgren
Associate Dean, College of Arts and Sciences
