Student
Support Services
TRiO Student Support Services is one of several federally funded programs developed under the Higher Education Act of 1965. The intent of SSS, along with the other TRiO programs, is to provide the support and resources that are necessary for students from diverse backgrounds to achieve their higher education goals. Students who meet the eligibility requirements for the program, as set by the Department of Education, receive a wide array of free services specifically designed to facilitate their path toward a college degree. Student Support Services staff consists of caring professionals motivated to help students grow personally and academically. Mission Statement: The mission of Lamar University Student Support Services TRIO Program is to promote academic success of eligible students who aspire to achieve a post-secondary education by removing obstacles that negatively impact good academic standing and motivating students toward successful completion of a college degree.
