composed of 17 National Fraternities and Sororities.
College Panhellenic Council (CPC) is the governing
body for the three National Panhellenic Council chapters at LU.
National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) governs the eight historically
African American fraternities and sororities, while
The Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC) governs men's fraternities.

Greek Life provides an opportunity for students not only to utilize their classroom experiences but to emerge as a leader in the Lamar campus community. There are many advantages in being Greek, with each council they strive to reach their high ideals. Each sorority and fraternity is unique and offers something different to each of its members. We are confident that you will find a sorority or fraternity that has the ideals and values that are important to you. No matter which organization you belong to it will forever be apart of you and extend beyond your college years.
WHAT DO WE DO?
The Greek Council at Lamar University holds many events for fraternities and sororities on campus. The Greek Scholarship Reception is held every semester for all seventeen chapters where they are honored for their outstanding scholarship. Each council gives out awards based on academic achievement throughout the chapters.
Greek Week is another event that is sponsored by the Greek Council. The primary purpose of Greek Week is to showcase some of the positive aspects of the Greek community here at Lamar University.
Outside of Greek Council each chapter is dedicated to their national philanthropy and local philanthropies.
BENEFITS OF BEING AN LU GREEK
Joining a sorority or fraternity at LU is a great way to become an active member in the campus community. The Greek system at LU is always striving to become the dominant force among the many organizations on campus leading through friendship, leadership, scholarship, and service.
