Early Alert is a program designed to provide intervention services to students who are identified as having academic difficulty or as having potential for academic difficulty. Such at-risk students include those who are on probation, returning from suspension having a GPA of 2.25 or below, or referred by a University employee.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Early Alert at Lamar University is to ensure that students are provided appropriate, early intervention services that enable success in the classroom. Through individual action plans, Early Alert will assist students in creating and achieving academic goals.
VISION STATEMENT
The Early Alert program will provide a supportive and caring environment where students feel comfortable discussing concerns that hinder academic performance. These concerns will be addressed through appropriate services that will lead our students to academic improvement. Students will be identified early in the semester—in time to receive constructive feedback and resources to improve course grades. Through individual attention and group programs, Early Alert will aid Lamar University in increasing student persistence through graduation.
