Use of Human Subjects

Lamar University is guided by the ethical principles regarding research involving human subjects set forth in the report of the National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research (Ethical Principles and Guidelines for the Protection of Human Subjects of Research [the ";Belmont Report"]). The minimum standard is set by the Department of Health and Human Services regulations at 45 CFR 46 (the "Common Rule"). Lamar University has additional provisions beyond that standard, which help to establish the highest expectations for performance and oversight by investigators, Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), and the University. The following policies and procedures outline these expectations.
