Graduate Assistant of Fitness and Wellness

Qualifications: Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport Management, or related field.  Students must have knowledge and experience in the areas of recreational sports, strong human relations skills, and acceptance in the Lamar University Graduate program.  Graduate students must maintain a 3.0 GPA and be in good standing with the university.  CPR/AED/First Aid certification and fitness certification preferred.


Responsibilities: Assist with the organization and administration of a comprehensive Fitness & Wellness program, manage daily administration of program activities, including correspondence with student staff and program participants, promote, market, schedule, train, supervise, evaluate and motivate fitness and wellness staff, assist in program evaluation and development of rules, policies and procedures, assist with organizing staff meetings and employee training sessions create and implement fitness area programs teach a variety of fitness classes, assist with Recreational Sports special events and other duties as assigned.

Graduate Assistant of Marketing

Qualifications: Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, Communications, Recreation or related field.  Students must have knowledge and experience in the areas of recreational sports, strong human relations skills, and acceptance in the Lamar University Graduate program.  Graduate students must maintain a 3.0 GPA and be in good standing with the university.  Prior experience with marketing and publicity/promotions highly preferred.
Responsibilities:  Assist with the overall operation of the marketing area, including the management of production and programs, coordinate a marketing plan for Recreational Sports programs, services and facilities, communicate with program area staff to determine marketing needs, develop and implement new marketing strategies for Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Summer Programs, and Wellness Program, promote programs and services and provide information to appropriate sources, produce departmental newsletter, flyers, brochures, and other promotional projects such as bulletin boards and banners assist with and update the departmental website, assist with Recreational Sports special events and other duties as assigned.

Graduate Assistant of Intramural Sports

Qualifications: Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport Management, or related field.  Students must have knowledge and experience in the areas of recreational sports officiating and programming, strong human relations skills, and acceptance in the Lamar University Graduate program.  Graduate students must maintain a 3.0 GPA and be in good  standing with the university.  CPR/AED/First Aid certification preferred.


Responsibilities:  Assist with the organization and administration of a comprehensive Intramural Sports program, manage daily administration of program activities, including correspondence with student staff and program participants, promote, market, schedule, and evaluate team and individual/dual sports, recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student supervisors, officials and scorekeepers, assist in program evaluation and development of rules, policies and procedures, management and maintenance of indoor/outdoor facilities, update the website for assigned activities, assist with Recreational Sports special events and other duties as assigned.
