A: We provide day lockers free-of-charge to our patrons; day lockers are located beside the basketball courts and fitness center.  Patrons must provide their own locks and must remove their belongings and locks before they leave. Overnight lockers, located in the locker rooms, are available for rental from the Pro Shop. Overnight lockers may be rented for $15 per semester; locks are provided by the Pro Shop upon payment.

Q. How do I rent a towel?
A: Towel rental is free to all patrons at the Equipment Checkout Desk.

Q. Where do I park?
A: Parking is available in the Senior  parking lot in front of the SURSC.  A senior parking pass is required to park in this lot before 1:00 PM.  Please contact the Parking Office in the Carl Parker Building for more information.

Q. Are there TV's in the new location?

A: Yes, all you need is head phones.  Head Phone jacks are located on each cardio machine.

Driving Range
1. Why is the driving range closed on days with nice weather?
A: It is due to past weather conditions, which does not allow us to find and pick up the golf balls.
2. Will I be able to practice chipping and putting also or just driving?
A: We have a putting green with a sand trap that allows for both.
3. Should I bring all of my clubs to the driving range?
A: You do not have to bring any clubs. We supply all of the clubs needed and you are allowed up to two buckets of balls.

Intramural Sports FAQ's
1. What exactly are intramural sports?
A: Intramural Sports is a sub-department of Recreational Sports that provide organized sports leagues, tournaments and other activities for Lamar Beaumont and LIT students, faculty and staff.

2. For the captain's meeting, is that only for the captain are is that for everyone to attend?
A: “Captain’s” in captain’s meeting really pertains to sports teams, but we also consider someone who is competing in an individual sport such as 8 ball pool as a captain. The reason is that you are responsible for turning in the entry form, paying the entry fee, attending the meeting and showing up on time for the scheduled games. All of these responsibilities are shared by someone in charge of a sports team or yourself in an individual sport.

3. How do you get placed on teams? Do you need to try out?
A: You can form your own teams by adding your friends or new people that you meet that would like to play, or you can sign up as a free agent and any team looking for extra players can add you on their team. For Individual sports there are not teams.

4. How long will you be on the team?
A: The games last for however long the season lasts for that particular sport. Team sports last at least three weeks and as much as eight weeks. Individual sports are usually only a one or two day event.

5. What fees will I be responsible for paying during the time that I'm on the team or playing an individual sport?
A: There will be a non-refundable entry fee for team and independent sports. The $5 for individuals or $25 for teams are the only fees that we ask of you. You can buy equipment that you feel you will need, but that is optional because we supply all the equipment needed for any of our sports. Once a team pays the $25 entry fee, that fee allows their team to play all team sports for one semester without paying extra entry fees as longs as the captain, whose name the team is registered under, is the same person.  All independent sports will cost $5 per person

6. Is there a separate team for guys and girls? Are you mixed or do you compete with each other?
A: We do have men and women’s leagues. We also have Co-Rec leagues where the men and women compete with each other in sports like Flag Football, Basketball, Cricket, Volleyball and Kickball.
In Texas Hold’em Poker, the men and women compete against each other also.

7. Will you be expected to travel?
A: All of our sports will be held on campus.  However, there are two sports that you would be expected to travel and those are only for our champion teams that we send to tournaments. The two sports are Flag Football and Basketball.

8. Why are there so many multiples of the same papers in one packet?
A: The reason for having so many of the same sheet is mainly for our All-Sports league (Fraternities, Sororities, and other Organizations/Clubs that compete against each other in a yearlong competition that includes all of our sports that we offer). They are allowed to have four players at the max in individual sports. Therefore, we have four of the release of risk and reliability sheets for four players and entry forms for up to four players. There are also liability forms and insurance forms that every participant must fill out before they are allowed to play. There are enough of these in the packet for the maximum number of players allowed on a team.

9. If you get really good at playing the game, would there be an opportunity to join a team for Lamar that could earn you scholarships from Lamar University. If so, explain.
A: That is not a guarantee. We have had some players who were able to walk on certain teams for sports like track, basketball, and volleyball. Also, we have had players that were able to join semi-pro teams in sports like Basketball, Cricket and Football. I am uncertain if they were given any kind of scholarships. That is determined by Lamar Athletics.

10. Do we get discounts to practice at the "Set" Setzer Student Center for sports like pool or table tennis? If not, what times are they usually open for practice?
A: We do not have it arranged for our players to have a discount in the Setzer center. That is something that we can look into and try to do. The price in the Setzer center is rather affordable and they have a lot of pool tables and two table tennis tables. As for the hours, you will need to contact someone in Organizations Office (Located in the first door once you come up the stairs in the Setzer Center) to find that information out. At the Sheila Umphrey, Recreational Sports Complex checks out the pool balls, sticks, and table tennis equipment free as long as you have your Lamar ID.
