The Nightingale Experience
The Nightingale Experience is a two-day event in June of each year for high school students who are interested in nursing as a career choice. Current nursing students, nursing faculty, and hospital staff introduce the high school participants to the nursing profession by planning a variety of fun, educational, hands-on nursing experiences. Participants are able to participate in simulated hands-on nursing skills in hospital settings such as the emergency department, the intensive care unit, labor & delivery, and the nursery.
High school participants spend the night at Cardinal Village Dormitory on the Lamar University campus with supervision provided by nursing faculty and current nursing students.
