High-Fidelity Simulation
Lab
Nursing students at LU benefit from our new state
of the science simulation laboratory.
Our simulation lab utilizes high-fidelity
computerized equipment [adult, pediatric, and
child-bearing mannequins] to simulate real-life
scenarios in order to prepare
nursing students for their roles as professional
nurses. Lamar University Nursing
Students say “simulation is a great place to learn and have fun at the same time!”

Students
in pediatric courses learn to assess infants
and children in a safe and
non-threatening
atmosphere (left). Students learn how to assess,
plan, implement and evaluate nursing
interventions
including how to report critical information to the physician/practitioner.

Students
participate in a role-play scenario with a
“Schizophrenic”patient
(actor-Jenny Creed featured
on the right along with Associate Degree
Nursing
Students enrolled in a Mental Health course).
Senior
level nursing students participate in
an interdisciplinary end of life
simulation (left)
along with paramedic and respiratory therapy
students
from Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT).
Students learned the importance of effective
teamwork, communication
and mutual respect.
