Educational Leadership
Emphasis: The Master of Education degrees in School
Administration and Instructional Supervision are designed to prepare students
for professional careers in school leadership. The purpose of these degrees
and certifications is to prepare students for organizational leadership and
decision-making, the design and implementation of instruction for student
achievement, management of the organization and its operations, human
resource development, and building parent involvement and community support.
A baccalaureate degree in education and teaching experience are required for
admission as well as the submission of GRE scores. GPA and GRE scores are a
major consideration for admission. Candidates must meet graduate college
requirements and be accepted by the department graduate committee.
Counseling and Development
Emphasis: The Master of Education in Counseling and Development is designed
for students interested in a professional career in counseling in schools or
the community, including private practice, group practice and institutional
and organizational settings. The degree is offered in the areas of Community
Counseling and School Counseling, with Special Education and Vocational
Counselor certificates available. Both programs offer coursework for
licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). School counselors are
certified by the Texas State Board of Educator Certification.
The purpose of the degree is to provide theoretical knowledge and therapeutic
skills used by counselors to help individuals or groups achieve goals and
make adjustments in social, emotional, career and educational areas of their
lives. The emphasis of the degree is on development of the practitioner's
ability to use therapeutic processes, mental health and human development
principles, and effective methods and techniques of counseling.

are a major consideration for admission. The School Counselor program
requires teaching experience. Candidates must meet Graduate College
requirements and be accepted by the departmental graduate committee.
Educational Technology Leadership
Emphasis: The Master of Education degree in
Educational Technology Leadership is designed to prepare students for
professional careers in school and district technology leadership. The
purpose of this degree is to prepare students for teaching educational technology
courses including multimedia, video technology, graphic design, desktop
publishing, web mastering at the elementary and secondary levels. In
addition, the degree prepares leaders who can manage and direct educational
technology systems in school districts.
