I.  PROFESSIONAL CORE                                     (12 hours)

II.  INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY CORE                (15 hours)

            (EDLD 5306 is the Prerequisite for all courses below)

            EDLD 5363     Video Technology and Multimedia *
            EDLD 5366     Graphic Design and Courseware Development *
            EDLD 5365     Web Mastery and Authoring Tools *  (Prerequisite – EDLD 5363, 5366)
            EDLD 5362     Information Systems Management
            EDLD 5388     Human Computer Interaction           

* Required for Technology Applications 8-12 Certifications (4 courses)

 III.    RESEARCH OR SUPPORTING FIELD                   (6 hours)

               (Chosen in consultation with advisor)

Electives are chosen to meet career and certification plans and goals and to provide content application in a selected discipline or field. Selections may be made from Computer Science and/or Business in consultation with your advisor.  (Select this option for the Master Technology Teacher Certification when it is in place)

IV. INTERNSHIP                                                                 (3 hours)

            EDLD 5367     Internship in Educational Technology

Post-Baccalaureate Applicants

This route is for Post-Baccalaureate applicants who wish to get their initial Teacher Certification with Technology Applications 8-12 Certification emphasis.

• Minimum of 3.0 grade point average.
• Previously approved technology background and department approval.
• 15 semester hours of coursework in the order as prescribed below:

            EDLD 5306     Fundamentals of Educational Technology

            EDLD 5363     Video Technology and Multimedia (EDLD 5306 prerequisite)

            EDLD 5366     Graphic Design & Courseware Development (EDLD 5306 prerequisite)   

            EDLD 5365     Web Mastery and Authoring Tools (Prerequisite – EDLD 5363, 5366)

            EDLD xxxx      (This technology course will be identified at the time of application on the Degree plan by Dr. Rice.)                                

• Must pass Technology Applications 8-12 ExCET test along with other required certification tests.

     Certified Teacher Applicants

This route is for those already holding a valid Texas Teaching Certificate

• A minimum of 3.0 grade point average
• Previously approved technology course and department approval.
• Graduate School status is encouraged and therefore you must get a suitable score on the GRE before proceeding past the first 6 semester hours.
• 15 semester hours of coursework in the order as prescribed below:

            EDLD 5306     Fundamentals of Educational Technology

            EDLD 5363     Video Technology and Multimedia (EDLD 5306 prerequisite)

            EDLD 5366     Graphic Design & Courseware Development (EDLD 5306 prerequisite)   

            EDLD 5365     Web Mastery and Authoring Tools (Prerequisite – EDLD 5363, 5366)

• Must pass Technology Applications 8-12 ExCET test

Note:  By passing the GRE in this route, it will enable candidates to continue into other courses if they wish to pursue an M.Ed. Degree in Educational Technology Leadership and meet the entry requirements. Applicants are encouraged to look over the degree requirements.
