The degree of Bachelor of Arts in History will be awarded upon the completion of the following requirements:

General Requirements:

Beyond Core Requirements:

Students must complete a foreign language, which substitutes for the communication requirement in the core, and three semester hours in literature.

Major:
HIST 3321, 3322 - World History – six semester hours
American History Surveys – six semester hours
HIST 3390 – Historical Research – six semester hours
Advanced U.S. History – six semester hours (4000 level)
Advanced World (Non – U.S.) History – six semester hours (4000 level)

Minor:
An approved minor of eighteen semester hours.

Electives:
Sufficient approved electives to complete a total of 121 hours. Within the 121-semester hours program there must be a minimum of at least 120 semester hours of courses that may not include physical activity courses, health and wellness courses, and intern program courses.

These courses (3301, 3302, 3303) were developed specifically for teacher certification in the Social Studies Composite and may not be used to satisfy advanced (4000) history requirements in either history degree programs or the history minor.
