Our Facility

The Student Health Center (SHC) facility was built in the 1950’s and is about 10,000 sq. feet.  One wing is utilized for Health Education and has 2 offices, a classroom, and a storage room.  Archived medical records are also housed in this wing in a secure room built for this purpose in 2003.  The entire clinic has been renovated since 1999, and all equipment/furniture has been replaced with “state of the art”.  Included in the renovation was a new glass wall partition in the waiting room ensuring additional privacy to those who are checking in at the reception window.

Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

We have 4 small regular exam rooms, one procedure room that also serves as an over-flow exam room, and a women’s health exam room where the majority of the pap smears and well-woman exams is performed.  There is also a Patient Observation area with 2 private rooms where students may be put to bed for observation until closing time (high temperatures, vomiting, severe headaches, etc.).

The pharmacy is a “Class D”, or clinic pharmacy where most medications we utilize are available at much reduced costs.  It is approximately 350 sq. feet with approximately 30% of that area being occupied by a lock-up closet.

There are 7 private offices in the main wings of the clinic (physician, director/nurse practitioner, 3 other nurse practitioners, and 2 counselors.  We also have a very nice, cozy “Conference Room” which is reserved for group counseling by the counselors.

Eligibility / Fees

SHC services are available to currently enrolled students only, with a few exceptions.  We do provide the initial evaluation of work-related injuries on campus, if the employee elects this option.  We also allow students who were enrolled in the immediately preceding long semester to continue to use the SHC during “mini” session for a one-time payment of the mini-session health fee.

As of April, 2007 health fees are $30 per semester for Fall and Spring, $15 per semester for each of the Summer sessions, and $15 for each of the Mini-sessions.  These fees include unlimited access to the SHC clinic and counseling services.  Additional charges are assessed for lab tests, certain over-the-counter medications and any medications filled from our pharmacy.
