Sue joined the Student Health Center team in July 1999 as the Mental Health
Coordinator. She holds a Master of Arts
in Counseling Psychology and
is a licensed professional counselor in Texas, with clinical certifications in
Domestic Violence and Forensic Counseling. Sue's broad psychotherapy
experience comes from varied clinical areas including community and state
level mental health services, private hospitals, a psychiatric day-treatment
hospital, a public crisis stabilization unit, substance abuse recovery
facilities, community volunteer work and private practice. She
completed her B.A. degree in Psychology, with a minor in Speech Pathology from Lamar
University. Her M.A. in Counseling Psychology was awarded by Goddard
College, Plainfield, Vermont.
The daughter of a career Naval officer/aviator, Sue was born in Key West,
Florida. Having resided in another country for a period of time, and
moving around and across the country most of her life, it comes as no surprise
that Sue loves to travel and does so at every opportunity. She
particularly enjoys trips to Europe. Sue has two grown children, both
Texans, with whom she especially loves spending as much time as
possible. In her free time, she enjoys reading good mysteries, listening
to music, and just relaxing.
Sue is available for psychological counseling of individuals, couples, or
groups by appointment only. For "couples" counseling,
at least one of the members must be a current student of Lamar University, as
only currently enrolled students are eligible for Student Health Center
services.
