Eligibility
The Student Health Center is committed to ensuring easy and
equal access to our services by all enrolled students regardless of
income level, ability to pay, age, color, gender, disability, religion,
national origin, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, and /or veteran
status. Students of Lamar University or Lamar Institute of Technology
are eligible for all Health Center services if they are
registered for classes during the current semester, have been assessed the Student
Health fee for that semester, and present a validated Lamar I. D. card.
The Student Health fee is mandatory for all students, and is included in the
tuition bill for each semester. Students who are not enrolled in
the current semester are not eligible for any services.
Exception: During Mini-session, students who are not enrolled in
Mini Session but were enrolled in
the previous long semester may use the Health Center for a one-time charge of $15.00 to cover the health
fee.
Spouses or children of students are not
eligible for services at the Health Center under any circumstances. However, optional
student insurance is available to cover dependents,
who may seek medical care with a private physician, or at one of the local
medical facilities.
Faculty/staff of Lamar University may receive limited services such as flu shots,
blood pressure checks, and certain laboratory tests. Because we are totally
funded through student fees, faculty and staff are not eligible
for examination, consultation, or treatment by any of the practitioners.
