Is Distance Learning right for You?
Distance Learning courses provide more flexibility than traditional classroom courses. However, Distance Learning courses require good time management skills, study skills, and self-motivation in order to be successful. Distance Learning courses are not the same as face-to-face courses. You may not be contacted directly by your professor before you begin the class so it is important you read the Blackboard tutorial. Courses are not accessible until the first day of class. Before you take any Distance Learning courses, you should ask yourself these questions:
How good are my computer skills?
- Internet browsing
- Internet searching
- Software download and installation
- Working with plug-ins
- Hardware/software installation
- Word processing
- Spreadsheets
How good are my study habits?
- Self-motivation
- Discipline
- Time management
- Self-starter
- Reading skills
- Writing Skills
Others factors to consider:
- Personal Attributes
- Support Network
- Personal Health
- Learning Resources
