Bachelor of General Studies
Degree Requirements
The Bachelor of General Studies will be awarded upon completion of 120 semester credit hours that meet the following requirements:
1. Core Curriculum (48 hours):
2. Elective hours (42 hours): elective courses as selected by the student and approved by advisor.
3. Advanced elective hours (30 hours):
- selected courses must be at the 3000 - 4000 level
- selected courses must consist of at least 9 hours in each of 3 disciplines
- at least 12 hours must be at the 4000 level
4. Grade Point Average:
- A minimum grade point average of 2.0 in all advanced elective coursework.
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0.
Transfer students: 30 hours must be completed at Lamar University, of which 18 hours must be advanced (junior and senior level). (See the current Lamar University Catalog p. 68 for more details.)
