Monitored Probation

The Center for General Studies has developed a program to  help students who are experiencing academic difficulties.  This program is called Monitored Probation.  Monitored Probation is designed to help students maintain good academic standing and achieve their academic goals by offering monitoring, study skills instruction, and academic and career counseling.

"GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING"

General Studies students are expected to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0           ("C") or better - this is considered "good academic standing."

MONITORED PROBATION (MP)

          Who?
General Studies students with a cumulative grade point average
less than 2.0 are no longer           considered in good academic standing and are placed on academic probation or           suspension and must participate in the MP Program.

          What?

If you are placed in the MP Program, your academic progress will be monitored until your           cumulative GPA reaches 2.0.

          How?

Monitoring will be done in several ways:

·        Personal interviews with you by the Executive Director of General Studies, the                           Coordinator of Retention, and/or other advisors

·        Academic counseling provided by the Coordinator of Retention

·        Required attendance at workshops and/or study skills sessions

·        Information offered on tutoring and mentoring programs

·        Follow-up letters of encouragement

          Why?

The goal of the MP Program is to help you achieve academic success.
