Fall 2009 Spring 2010 Processing
Students are being awarded for the Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 semesters. All students are awarded using a full time amount. All grant money will be prorated based on the number of hours of enrollment at the time the funds apply to the account. Some grant programs require a minimum number of hours. See the comments tied to your specific award. Grant funds will be accepted for the students.

Students accepting their Stafford Loans will not be able to complete the Loans By Web process until July 24th at the earliest for the Fall/Spring semesters.

PLUS loans and Stafford Loans
Lamar University utilizes Loans By Web by TG for all student loans (PLUS and stafford loans). Students will be awarded all of their Stafford loan eligiblity once they are ready for awarding. Students will then have a choice to accept their loans as awarded or reject their loans. If a student wishes to receive the Stafford loan amount they must follow some very important steps:

1. Accept the loan by logging into their account.
2. Waiting approximately 3-4 working days.
3. Go to Loans By Web. Remember you cannot move forward with Loans By Web until you have been awarded and accepted your loan funds.

In Loans By Web you will be required to complete Entrance Counseling, choose a lender, and complete your Master Promissory Note. You will need to adjust your pop up blocker.

Parents wishing to request a PLUS loan need follow the PLUS loan request instructions. Once we receive a request for the PLUS loan and all required documentation is comlpete the parent will need to complete a refund release form telling us whether the refund, if any as a result of the PLUS loan, should be given to the parent or the student.

Student Loans
It is the student's responsibility to choose a lender to borrow the funds from. Students can access Lamar University's school fact sheet, or any school's fact sheet to review what lenders have been chosen by students in the past.

*Lamar University does not receive any benefit from any lender, and students are not restricted from choosing a lender that is not listed.

LOAN CONSOLIDATION: Consolidating your student loans can be a very confusing and difficult process due to all of the choices. Texas Guarantee (TG) has some information that may ease the burden.

Texas Grant and B On Time Loans
Texas Grant: Funding for the Texas Grant is limited due to the large number of eligible students. Students who have received the Texas Grant in previous years have until November 1st to complete all documentation or they forfeit the Texas Grant. Incoming freshman will be awarded based upon their Expected Family Contribution and the date they applied for Financial Aid. Incoming students will not be awarded any Texas Grant funds until after November 1st.

B On Time: Due to limited funding of the B On Time loan is not available to students how have not previously received it. Returning students need to submit a B On Time Loan Worksheet once they are registered for classes in the Fall.
