You must complete the following to apply for financial aid at Lamar University. When all items are received, your file will be reviewed. All awards are subject to availability of funds, academic performance, and financial need. All notification of financial aid awards (excluding Stafford and PLUS loans) will be emailed to the student’s Lamar University email account. Each student is responsible for activating their email account. Incoming students cannot do this until they register for classes, but may and are responsible for checking their account by logging into SIS Online. Access is gained through www.lamar.edu/touchnet. We recommend that you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Renewal Application at www.fafsa.ed.gov no later than February 15th of each year. The PRIORITY DEADLINE FOR EACH YEAR IS APRIL 1st. Applications received after April 1st are processed in the date order they are received and we are unable to promise that the financial aid will be processed and funds will be applied to your account prior to classes starting - FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA). File the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov, list Lamar University’s school code (003581) as one of your schools to attend to ensure that we receive the information from the U.S. Department of Education. This application establishes eligibility for grants, loans, and work-study funds. (If you have not received a response from the federal processor’s office in the form of a Student Aid Report (SAR) by mail or email within six weeks, you may call the Federal Student Aid Information center at (800) 433-3243. To speed up the processing of your FAFSA you and your parents can both apply for a PIN (Personal Identification Number) and sign your application electronically. You can go to www.pin.ed.gov and apply. If you have email you should have a response in 3-5 days or by mail in 10-12 working days. Lamar University’s Financial Aid Office has stopped mailing award letters and missing information letters. Each student is responsible for activating their Lamar University email account. All notifications are emailed to the Lamar University email. Any student who has not registered for classes does not have a Lamar University email. Incoming students are responsible for checking the status of their financial aid by logging into SIS Online. If you have been admitted to Lamar University then you can log in by going to www.lamar.edu.
AFTER YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR STUDENT AID REPORT (SAR), PLEASE RETURN THE FOLLOWING FORMS ONCE YOU HAVE APPLIED FOR AND BEEN ACCEPTED TO LAMAR UNIVERSITY. —FINANCIAL AID DISCLOSURE. Submit your completed Lamar University Financial Aid Disclosure for each academic year. —INDEPENDANT OR DEPENDANT VERIFICATION WORKSHEET. You and your family must complete this form only if the Student Aid Report states you have been selected for verification. Incomplete forms will delay the awarding process. TAX RETURNS. Submit signed copies of your (and your spouse’s or parent’s, if applicable) IRS tax returns and W2’s ONLY if the Student Aid Report states you have been selected for verification. ANY FORMS RECEIVED
