The teacher certification program provides professional
training for careers requiring technical knowledge of family and consumer
sciences/ home economics, as well as expertise in instructional methods.
Graduates of this curriculum meet the state requirements for Vocational Home
Economics Education. Students must meet admission and certification
requirements of the Lamar University Teacher Education Program outlined
elsewhere in this Bulletin. Before certification, successful completion of
the Examination for the Certification of Educators in Texas (ExCET) is required.
