The Texas Honors Leadership Program will begin its three-week session on June 17th, 2007 with registration at Lamar University in Beaumont, and classes begin on June 18th and go through July 06th. This will be the 18th summer that Lamar University has sponsored this program designed to meet the educational needs of gifted and talented secondary school students.

       

All local school districts in Texas have access to student applications. Since the program is tuition-fee (the Activity-fee of $350 is the only student cost). Board and room costs are covered through grants from private foundations and individual donations. THLP may offer the only opportunity many gifted students have for additional services designed to meet their unique educational needs. All students enrolled in the tenth grade who have participated in at least 1 state-approved advanced level, honors or gifted class, or who have demonstrated high academic/leadership potential should be made aware of this opportunity.

 

A general letter of explanation and application is available on-line (http://dept.lamar.edu/connchair/THLP/main.htm). This letter and application may be duplicated and distributed as needed. Student applications need to be returned to Lamar University by May 5th, 2007.
