Dear Texas Honors Leadership Scholar,

 

 

            Congratulations! I am pleased to tell you that you have been selected to be part of the Texas Honors Leadership Program in Beaumont, Texas this summer. The Texas Leadership Program is committed to providing a quality leadership program for you. The faculty of the THLP program is made up of Lamar University staff, and secondary teachers from throughout the state of Texas. They are highly experienced and have invested their time to ensure a wonderful exciting program for you this summer.

 

            A quality program will be dependent on how well all work together. We have invited 200 students to attend and identified 25 alternates. Please send in your student fee for $350 made payable to Lamar University-THLP by April 22nd , 2005.

            An information packet including a medical history form, release forms and a listing of classes for you to make your selection of courses is attached. These need to be completed and mailed back with your student fee. You should plan to arrive on July 3, at 1:00 p.m. to meet your counselor, receive your class schedule and unpack your belongings in the dorm. There will be a parent/student meeting in the Setzer Center at 4:00 p.m. for orientation. On the first evening, July 3, your counselor will provide you with your class list and give you a brief tour of the campus so that you will be able to locate your classes easily on July 4.

 

            You and your parents may plan to depart after the closing ceremony on July 22 which will run from 7:00-9:00 p.m. or you may remain until 12:00 p.m. on July 23. Please send a picture for your student I.D., and we will laminate this for your identification card.

 

            Bring your enthusiasm, musical instruments, and zest for learning and appropriate gear for your chosen activity. We look forward to seeing you.
