The Graduate Council of Lamar University met in Room 102, Plummer, Conference Room at 2:00 pm. Dr. Victor Zaloom, Interim Dean of Graduate Studies, presided. Drs. Blume, Saur, Fan, Gentry, Slaydon and Jenkins attended. Also present were Carmen Breaux, Coordinator of Graduate Studies, Dr Pamela Monk, Interim Chair, Counseling and Special Populations and Dr Bradley Mayer, Associate Dean and Director of MBA Program.
Minutes of the January 19, 2011 meeting were unanimously approved by the Council. Dr. Gentry motioned to approve and Dr. Slaydon seconded the motion.

New Process/Committee for Graduate Faculty Review
Dr. Vanderleeuw, Chair of Graduate Faculty Review Committee discussed with the Council the current and past system for election/appointment to the Graduate Faculty Review Committee. Dr. Jenkins motioned to accept the suggested process amended by Dr. Zaloom, Dean of Graduate Studies. The Council approved the motion.

Course Addition/Department of Chemical Engineering
Dr. Jenkins motioned that the course addition be added to the degree plan. Dr. Fan seconded and the Council unanimously approved.

Changes to Master of Education Programs
Dr. Pamela Monk presented to the Council changes to the M.Ed in School Counseling and M.Ed in Counseling and Development degrees. No action was taken by the Council.

Course Additions/MBA Department
Dr. Mayer presented the College of Businessís new Leadership Certification with four course additions; MGMT 5312, MGMT 5313, MGMT 5314, and MGMT 5315. Dr. Jenkins motioned to accept the four course additions and the Leadership Certification with 12 hours from the certificate maybe available to be applied to a MBA degree if a student would like to enter the Lamar MBA program. Dr. Fan seconded and the Council approved the decision.

Meeting adjourned at 3:45 p.m. (Next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 16, 2011).
