Lamar Theatre Summer Workshop
July 10 - 17, 2010
The Lamar Theatre Summer Workshop is for students who are interested in learning more about
acting, playwriting and technical production within a week-long plan of study.
The workshop is divided into two separate groups:
1. Students entering grades 9-12. This group of students will be housed for the week in Cardinal
Village so that more intensive work with them can be done during the week.
2. Students entering grades 6-8. This group of student will be classified as the day campers. They
will work from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
A typical day with either group will include classes in acting (divided into beginning & advanced),
playwriting, lighting, makeup, costumes, puppetry and scenic construction.
All classes are taught by Lamar Theatre professors and graduate students. Each student will also be
cast in a one-act play to be presented on the final day of the workshop for parents and friends.
The workshop is very fast-paced and requires a lot of the students and their involvement in it each
day.
