Dance Degrees

Degree Programs

The Dance Division offers three programs of study. A student choosing a public school teaching career should follow the teacher certification program. This course of study leads to certification to teach dance and an approved additional teaching field at the secondary level. Students pursuing this degree must be accepted by the College of Education after completing their core academic coursework. They will complete supervised student teaching at an area secondary school during their final semester.

A student selecting the non-certification program prepares for a career in private studio teaching, administration, choreography, professional performance and other dance-related fields.

For all three degrees, a minimum grade of "C" must be earned in each of the dance theory courses; a minimum grade of " B" must be earned in each of the dance studio courses. Lower than minimum will require repeating the course.
