Dance Companies

The Lamar Dance Company is the faculty-directed performing dance group of Lamar University. Open by audition to experienced dancers from all majors, the Lamar Dance Company performs faculty works, guest artists' choreography and adjudicated student choreography in a variety of styles that include modern dance, ballet, tap and jazz. The Lamar Dance Company presents a full-length concert every semester as well as smaller performances on and off campus. Each spring the company presents faculty, guest artist and student choreographic works to be adjudicated at the regional American College Dance Festival.


Repertory Dance Theatre

Repertory Dance Theatre (RDT) is dedicated to meeting the dance program's goal of educating dance artists, fostering dance arts appreciation in the community and expanding dance arts experiences throughout the Southeast Texas region. Through a lecture/demonstration format, RDT student performers present historically significant dance works to the Lamar campus community, area middle and high schools, and the public. Any Lamar University student who has dance experience may register for RDT.
