Welcome to the new Department of Theatre & Dance at Lamar University!

This is an exciting time as theatre and dance unite into one collaborative, multidisciplinary department. We invite you to join us as a student, audience member or participant/supporter as we enter this most recent phase in the history of these two art forms at Lamar. We will continue to be dedicated to the promotion, development, production and appreciation of both theatre and dance through the integration of teaching, creative work and research, and service.

In the laboratory setting of our classrooms, on our stages, and throughout the Lamar and Beaumont communities, students in the Department of Theatre & Dance can prepare for work in professional and community dance and theatre, as teachers, and in other fields. We offer a number of degree programs, scholarships, a full season of performances, and we participate in such events as the American College Dance Festival and the American College Theatre Festival.

Our faculty and distinguished guest artists are actively engaged in their fields on the local, regional and national levels. Students at Lamar can benefit from the training and mentorship that these outstanding faculty members and artists provide, as well as from collaborations between theatre and dance.
