Lamar University Chorus
The vocal music department at Lamar University consists of three different performing ensembles: A Cappella Choir, Grand Chorus and
Cardinal Singers. Membership in these organizations is open to all students regardless of their academic discipline. Scholarships are
available for vocal music majors and for participation in A Cappella Choir and Cardinal Singers.

A Cappella Choir The A Cappella Choir is designed to provide students with a musical experience of
the highest caliber, representing choral works of all periods of music history. The ensemble is the primary laboratory course for those
students planning a career in vocal music performance and choral music. In addition to performing the Lamarissimo holiday concert in December,
the A Cappella Choir holds one major performance each semester and makes several appearances each year throughout the community.
The A Cappella Choir totals approximately fifty students, and membership is by audition only.
Grand ChorusThe Grand Chorus provide students with the opportunity to perform a large, major choral work each semester.
The Grand Chorus total approximately sixty-five students.
Cardinal Singers The Cardinal Singers is a show choir consisting of twelve singers with instrumental accompaniment. This group performs
popular music and jazz routines. The Cardinal Singers is the primary public relations ensemble for the university, performing for schools,
civic clubs, church functions and conventions. The Cardinal Singers present a Lamarissimo concert each spring.
