Mary Evelyn Collins, Ph.D., comes to Lamar from Sam Houston State University. She has also held teaching posts at Hardin-Simmons University, Wingate College and the University of Houston-Downtown.

Dr. Collins earned her doctorate in communication from Florida State University and a Master of Arts in drama from San Jose State. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre arts from Texas Christian University. Her research interests focus on rhetorical theory, gender, visual rhetoric and folk speech.
