                           Dazed and Confused

This workshop is great for freshman and sophomores that are undecided on their major. It will allow students to explore their options and break up into groups to discuss interest with other students as well as group leaders. The students will then be separated into groups based on interests and various major options. Once the groups are rejoined the session will conclude with a Q & A session regarding topics such as the next step into career development.

      

 Internships: 101

Internships are important but how do you get one? This workshop is for students seeking to find the internship that best suits their future career interest and future aspirations. The session will consist of a presentation covering what an internship is, the different types of internships, when the best time for the students to apply, what an internship resume should look like and where to search to find the best internship. The workshop will also cover how to plan for your internship interview. This program is geared towards sophomore and Juniors but open to all students.

    

 

 Extreme Makeover: Resume Edition

The Extreme Makeover workshop is targeted towards students looking to further develop or create a resume. This interactive session will feature a keynote speaker. The speaker will give examples of what is acceptable in a resume. Students who wish to attend the workshop will be asked to bring a resume. Rather than taking notes, students will have the opportunity to work in a computer lab and update their resumes throughout the duration of the program. All CTC advisors will be there to assist the student’s needs. At the end of the session all information will be reviewed. In addition, CTC events and resources will be explained in detail.

Speed Interviewing  

February 24, 2010

This workshop is for students who are looking to improve their interviewing skills. The theme is similar to that of Speed Dating. Speed interviewing helps students practice their “30 second commercial” lines with potential employers. Extra copies of interview guides and evaluation will be provided. Students will mingle with one another prior to the starting of the event and refreshments will be served at that time. Each company representative will have approximately five to ten minutes to interact with each student. There will be a one minute transition where the employer will have the opportunity to complete a five-question survey. This session is open for all classifications

Dress for Success

This workshop is for students to gain an understanding of what it means to dress for success. With the help of this workshop students will learn how to polish their professional image. Session will feature a keynote speaker from the fashion industry. They will discuss why it is important to have a good professional image, the do’s and don’ts of creating your professional image, how to give a great first impression, what the proper professional attire is for different industries, and how to communicate effectively with others through your appearance.

This workshop will help navigate and provide essential advice to upcoming graduates on how to transition from college life to a working environment. Learn how to create and maintain a professional image and how to develop good work habits, also learn what it takes to have a successful career.
