XI. PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL APPLICATION CHECKLIST

If you are applying to professional school (medical and dental are described below; other professional schools will require some modification of this sequence) for admission in fall of year X, and will request that the Lamar Preprofessional Advisory Committee write an evaluation of you as part of your application, the following items must be completed and submitted to the College of Arts and Sciences Advising Center, 106 Carl Parker building, no later than early June of year X-1.

1. One copy of your completed application .

2. One recent photograph.

3. Any Health Professions Advisory Form(s) and/or names and addresses of where evaluations are to be sent.

4. Copy of MCAT, DAT, or other scores (if taken).

5. You must interview with the members of the Preprofessional Advisory Committee (arrange to see the Chairman of the committee last and when items 1 through 4 are completed).

If you have any questions or wish to discuss the application procedure, arrange to see your primary advisor before you begin this process. If the courses required by the professional school have not been taken at Lamar, the Preprofessional Advisory Committee may elect not to write a recommendation.

The following sequence applies to applicants in year X-1 to the medical (dental) school class starting Fall year X.

April to August: Applications for most Texas medical/dental schools are accessible and available on the internet.

April: MCAT (DAT): It is suggested that you take the test at this time or earlier.

April through May: Interview with the committee .

June (or earlier) to September: Complete and send in applications to medical (dental) school, the earlier the better.

August to ?. Invitations for interviews are sent from the professional schools to the applicants.

January 15: Usually the first acceptance notifications; some dental notices are sent out in December.
