Larry McLaughlin

Larry McLaughlin lives on the sweaty edges of the Austin suburbs where he dances. Not for fame or wealth or competition, but simply for the love of wearing a leotard.

A graduate of the Colorado Film school, Larry has written and directed several short films and the feature film comedy, THE BREAKDANCE KID.
His short film, THE MIDNIGHT SUN screened well at film festivals around the world, receiving first place at several of the festivals. As a result, the film was the subject of a Final Cut Pro editing book and is currently being distributed by The Discovery Channel's Education Division.

After hearing that Austin, TX was considered the 'third coast' for filmmaking, Larry decided to move to Austin in 2003 to begin pre-production on his first feature film, THE BREAKDANCE KID. With nothing more than a couple bucks and a script, Larry soon discovered that all the hoopla about Texas was right. The immense pool of talented cast, crew, and musicians afforded Larry to complete THE BREAKDANCE KID on time and without a budget.

An early cut of the film premiered at The Austin Film Festival in 2004 and the final cut of the film has just been completed. The search for distribution is just beginning.
