David Carren

David Bennett Carren, a native of Dallas and a graduate of the University of Texas, has been a professional screenwriter for three decades. He has written and/or produced more than 200 TV shows, and his credits include such definitive series as Star Trek: The Next Generation, Stargate SG-1, Buck Rogers, TekWar, Battlestar Galactica, Knightrider, Beauty and the Beast, Diagnosis Murder, Murder She Wrote, and Walker, Texas Ranger.

David’s latest project is Mr. Hell, a horror film shot in Houston this last summer. It stars Tracy Scoggins (Babylon 5), Ed Neal (Texas Chainsaw Massacre,) and Danny Kamin (The Rookie.) David co-wrote the script with executive producer Jack Rhodes and produced with Jolene McMaster. Rob McKinnon directed the 35-mm. feature, which finished postproduction in March.

David has written prose fiction for a variety of venues. Medallion Books published his first novel, No Power on Earth, and Stonelock Pictures optioned his second, I've Killed Mother. One of his stories for the Pacific Comics anthology, Alien Worlds, was produced as the “If She Dies” episode of The New Twilight Zone.

His animated projects have included episodes of Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles, GI Joe, Captain Planet, Phantom 2040, Carmen Sandiego, Dennis the Menace, Camp Candy, and Vor-Tech, which he co-created.

He also scripted the popular CD Rom game, Wing Commander V, and his work on the CBS series Capitol earned him a Writer's Guild Award nomination.

David has written and acted for the stage. He was a charter member of the Lot 26 Players and also a member of the Hollywood Theater Club; both based in Los Angeles. His acting credits include Telemachus Clay and Seven Keys to Baldpate. His play, Christmas, was produced at the Back Alley Theater in Los Angeles.

His film credits as an actor include Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles, Martial Law, Diagnosis Murder, and Mr. Hell, in which he played one of Mr. Hell’s many victims.

David was recently under contract at ADV Films where he scripted multiple Japanese anime projects, including The Original Dirty Pair, Those Who Hunt Elves, and Super Gals. He is currently in pre-production on Black, a suspense thriller he will write, direct and produce.
