Michael Miner
Screenwriter/director Michael Miner, who has written scripts for
Michael Douglas, Oliver Stone and Sylvester Stallone, was a co-writer
of "Robocop." Miner was a featured speaker at the 2001
film festival.
Miner has directed several films including an indie feature with
a $3 million budget written by Texas native Tasca Shadix. The feature
starred Mary Stuart Masterson.
Miner first read Shadix's script while she was attending the
International Film and Video Workshops in Rockport, Maine. After
Shadix took top prize in the Student Short Script category in 1994
the Austin Film Festival paid her entry fee into the international
workshop. Miner eventually optioned the script and it was picked
up by Shadowcather Entertainment.
Miner screened a director's cut of "Book of Stars" at
the 2001 film festival and received rare reviews.
Characters he and Ed Neumeier created for the movie "RoboCop"
paved the way for "RoboCop 2" and "RoboCop 3,"
and the television series "Robocop: Prime Directives."
Miner also was a screenwriter on the films "Cosmic Voyage"
and "Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace."
He directed "Deadly Weapon" from an original screenplay
and also directed "Alias Jane Doe" and "Labyrinths."
