How to
Apply
To apply, each student must submit a letter of interest that presents
a personal statement on his or her academic goals and intended major,
along with a current resume, a copy of the original Lamar University
application for undergraduate admission which was sent to the Office
of Admissions, and three letters of recommendation (two of which
must be from the applicant’s current teachers). Each application
must also include documentation of SAT score (or ACT) and a copy
of the student’s current high school transcript with class
rank. If a student has already been awarded scholarships by Lamar
University, this fact must be disclosed in the application.
Application Should be made no later than January 15. The university
reserves the right to make early offers to exceptional
candidates.
The required documents should be submitted directly to the Office
of the Provost (Lamar University, Box 10002, Beaumont, TX 77710).
All applications meeting the requirements will be sent to the dean
of the college in which the applicant intends to major (or, in the
case of undecided majors, to the executive director of the Center
for General Studies).
The college deans will review applications and supporting materials
and make recommendations to the provost, whose decisions are final.
Evaluations by the college deans will include a personal interview
and may also include assessment of specific skills as evidenced
by video, film, audiotape, auditions, or student-submitted works.
