An engineering degree from Lamar will really help me when I go back to Chile.
I'm not just learning engineering at Lamar. I'm learning English too in the Lamar
Language Institute. If you know English and Spanish, you have a big advantage in
my country.

I always wanted to see the world outside of China, and I have traveled a lot
since I came to Lamar University. I went to Boston, New York, and to Houston to
see Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets play basketball. I am friends with many people
on Lamar's basketball team and when I am not in class, I like to go to their games.
I even play basketball once a week with Chinese faculty members and other students.

One of my dreams is to earn my Masters Degree in Public Administration from the
United States and have a challenging experience. Lamar offers an excellent education
that will assist and prepare me to become a good administrator in my country, Palestine.
This experience will introduce me to different cultures, as well as, it will help Americans
to learn more about Palestinians. I am honored to be one of the Lamar cardinals!!

When I came to Lamar, I was the first Indian student in the kinesiology department.
The faculty, staff and students in the department were very friendly. The professors
in my department are very knowledgeable, and they have good experience. I have
learned a lot about speaking skills from them. They are always so patient and
willing to listen to me. It really makes me feel good. At the end of the day, I
think it is worth coming here.

The number of students in my classes does not exceed twenty, which is better
than in my country and many other universities where class sizes are much
larger. It is better because everyone gets to know each other and you can
talk to the professor more, it is more interactive. This is an education
system that forces you to learn and I like that very much.

I have made very good friends from India, Taiwan, Venezuela, Mexico and
many other countries. The friendship is really nice because international
students usually are afraid of what they are going to find in another country
and what I have seen is that communities help each other. I have learned a
lot about the Indian and Chinese communities and even though I am not from
India or China I feel I am a part of their communities, it is a very nice
experience.

One thing I like about Lamar University is that I do not have an
assigned curriculum of classes to take. I have freedom to choose what
kind of classes I take. In my first semester, I decided not to take a
lot of difficult classes. Later, I will take more classes that are more
difficult.

Lamar has a lot of great places to go. I use the Sheila Umphrey
Recreational Sports Center a lot, and I think it's great. I love to
go in there and work out when I'm feeling stressed. I even shoot baskets
on the indoor basketball court. I love to eat in the on campus dining hall
because you get to choose your own food. There is always a good variety
of food, and it tastes so good.

I earned my master’s degree in electrical engineering from Lamar
University, but after finding a job for a local engineering company,
I decided to come back to Lamar for my MBA. I do engineering for living,
but I really want to branch out into management. The MBA classes I have
taken so far not only focus on examination skills, but they also focus
on presentation skills. This has helped me become a well-rounded individual,
and has really given me a leg up in a room full of engineers. I think an MBA
from Lamar will give me the leverage I need to move up in an organization.

I got more than I bargained for attending Lamar University. I wanted
to study engineering and Lamar University offers a first class engineering
program and scholarships to international students. LU engineering students
are recruited by companies worldwide, and many undergrads are receiving
job offers before they even graduate. At Lamar, I am receiving more than
just an education; I’m getting a chance to experience the world. There
are students from over 50 countries here, and I have the opportunity to
meet them and be a part of their world and share my own with them. There
is always something to do at Lamar; there are sports, leadership or
self-developmental programs, cultural events, volunteering opportunities,
and even entertainment of every kind. Since I’ve been at Lamar University,
I learned how to grow outside of my box and what it takes to become a
successful leader for tomorrow.

I have spent almost three years at Lamar, during which time
I enjoy my life every day. Thanks for the help from our good professors; I
learned lots of useful and practical knowledge in class. There are many good
chances for students to get involved in research at Lamar. We do interesting experiments in the
lab and present our results in academic conference or students’ competition. Moreover,
I made many very good friends from different countries. I love my life at Lamar
and I am glad to be a student here.

I always aspired to earn an international masters degree pertaining to my field. Studying at Lamar so far has been a very
fruitful experience for me. The faculty and staff in my department have
extensive knowledge about the courses they offer. The professors are always
inclined to help the students who need them. They have imparted the best in me
which has helped to improve my skills as well as personality. Getting an international exposure
serves the purpose of interacting and blending with the people from different
cultures. I am looking forward for some good job opportunities after my
graduation. Overall, I would recommend everyone applying for master's degree
from my home country India, to join this university.
