Duties: Process faculty and staff payroll, reconcile and submit payroll tax deposits, file quarterly 941 reports and year end W-2’s. Reconcile and submit payments for TexFlex and insurance monthly. Duties: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas is seeking a full-time research associate to work as a member of the air quality research team. This position will aid in the development and simulations of ozone, PM and mercury using Models-3/CMAQ and CAMx, and analyze the model data for model evaluation and improvement. The research work will support a number of ongoing Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and USEPA supported projects in investigating the fate of atmospheric mercury, and in supporting air quality modeling for regional haze, ozone and acid deposition.

Duties: Responsible for the investment of University funds based on anticipated cash needs. Monitor cash balances on a daily basis to determine actions needed to ensure adequate cash flow and maintain adequate pledged collateral coverage to protect the University funds. Prepare entries to record all investment transactions to the general ledger. Reconcile all investment accounts monthly and interest income accounts quarterly. Prepare monthly investment reports detailing investment activity for executive management and quarterly investment reports for executive management and TSUS. Prepare cash schedules for the Annual Financial Report. Supervise Cashier’s Office. This involves full participation during peak times. The Cashier’s Office is responsible for receiving, verifying and recording all of the University’s deposits which include collecting money due on student, faculty and staff accounts, and other accounts such as departmental deposits. Conduct periodic audits of remote cashier locations. Facilitate and report the University’s bond obligations. Ensure availability of funds for semi-annual bond payments. Prepare the bond schedules for the Annual Financial Report. Initiate payments to bond paying agents for miscellaneous fees related to bond activity. Annual transmittal of bond information for arbitrage calculations. Initiate and record wire and ACH activity as needed for concert settlements, payroll transactions, investment purchases, inter-fund borrowing needs, bond obligations, procurement cards, CardinalOne Card refunds, and other transactions. Monitor and report needs for inter-fund transactions. Review fund and bank balances to determine need for borrowing cash between funds. Prepare monthly reconciliations: payroll receivables, cash clearing, semi-annual allocation of earnings from endowment accounts to the University’s scholarship accounts. Prepare endowment schedule for the Annual Financial Report. Prepare and review vacation/sick leave reports, annual employee evaluations, and all other employment decisions for staff.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. Five (5) years experience in finance operations of a state college or university with three (3) years supervisory experience. Knowledge of finance administration and fiscal accounting. Knowledge of State regulations and policies pertaining to public funds and government finance. Knowledge of electronic banking.
