GLOBAL STUDIES CERTIFICATION: EXAMPLES

1) A Political Science major successfully completes:
   
a. ECON 3350 (International Trade)
   
b. SPAN 4320 (The Spanish Novel)
   
c. HIST 2321 (World Civilization)
   
d. ANTH 2346 (Intro to Anthropology)

Result: Certificate is awarded.

2) Another Political Science major successfully completes:
   
a. ECON 3350 (International Trade)
   
b. ECON 4350 (Comparative Economic Systems)
   
c. MKTG 4330 (Intl. Marketing)
   
d. ARTS 1303 (Art History Survey I)

Result: Certificate is awarded "with Concentration in International Business," because of the three courses in business subjects.

3) Yet another Political Science major successfully completes:
   
a. ENGL 2331 (World Lit)
   
b. ENGL 2371 (Asian Lit)
   
c. ENGL 3370 (World Drama)
   
d. ENGL 4321 (Cross-Cultural Communication)

Result: Sorry, the Certificate cannot be awarded with more than three of the courses in the same field. Student must do one more global content course from another discipline.

4) Still another Political Science major successfully completes:
   
a. POLS 3310 (Govt. and Politics of Europe)
   
b. POLS 3370 (Foreign Policy)
   
c. FREN 3390 (French Culture and Civilization)   
   
d. HUMA 1315 (Understanding the Arts)

Result: Sorry, the Certificate cannot be awarded to this student unless at least three courses are from outside of Political Science. Thus, this student needs one more non- Political Science course.

5) A Theatre major successfully completes the same courses as in example number "4" above.

Result: Certificate is awarded (no rules violated, and no concentration awarded.)
